SOWING
Sow in drills, 3in apart. The more you can careful space the seed at this space, the better. When carrot seedlings are thinned, the scent from the seedling is released and this attracts carrot fly which can destroy a crop. So a few extra careful moments now will save you later in the season. Carrots like sand so mix in a bag of sand with the soil, this will also help make the soil more free draining.

TRANSPLANT

Carrots don’t transplant well so avoid this.

COMPANION PLANTING
Likes to grow with Chives, Lettuce, Leeks, Onions, Peas, Radish, Rosemary, Sage and Peas.

SEASONAL CARE

Keep watered and be careful when removing weeds, again, not to attract the carrot fly. Cover the crop with fleece will help reduce the possibility of attack.

HARVESTING

Using a fork, carefully lift the carrots as-and-when required. Carrots keep well in the soil.

STORING

Can be frozen, use within a year.
