SOWING
Can be sown indoors in single 6in pots of compost or directly outside. The plants will need a structure to grow-up, traditionally bamboo canes are used.

TRANSPLANT

When transplanting, place the plant on the inside of the cane to make it easier for it to climb.

SEASONAL CARE

Keep well watered and weed free. Blackfly may become a problem – an organic method is to use soapy water and spray it onto the blackfly.

HARVESTING

When the beans are around 8in long, harvest by holding the main plant/cane and pull the pod. Be careful not to damage the main plant when doing so.

HARVESTING SEEDS

At the end of the season, leave a few pods to develop. When the pods feel papery, pick from the plant and remove the beans from the pod. Dry them by placing on a tray for a few days. Store in glass jars and use within a year.
